Postdoctoral fellowship: Ultrasound imaging of the intra-osseous blood circulation

Ce poste a été pourvu

An 18-month post-doctoral position is available at Sorbonne Université in Paris, France (http://www.sorbonne-universite.fr/). The researcher will work at the Laboratoire d’Imagerie Biomédicale (https://www.lib.upmc.fr/).

Context

The postdoctoral researcher will join the group DBMS (Determinant of Bone Mechanical Status) which is one of the world’s leading groups for the characterization of the mechanical properties of bones with dynamical methods. The group is composed of 10-15 international members including senior researchers, engineers, postdoctoral fellows and PhD and Master students. DBMS has strong expertise in using ultrasound waves and vibrational methods to characterize bone. The group has recently focused on the ultrasound imaging of bone. Current medical ultrasound scanners can only produce images of soft tissues. We aim to develop ultrasound imaging of anatomical sites containing bone in order to characterize intra-osseous anatomy and blood supply. If successful it will broaden the range of clinical uses of ultrasonography, which fails to image bone so far.

Mission(s)

The postdoctoral researcher will be in charge of the development of optimal pulsing schemes to characterize intra-osseous blood flow (velocity and direction) and their implementation on a fully programmable ultrasound scanner equipped with a conventional ultrasound probe. The selected pulse sequences must ensure optimal reproducibility of the measurement of the intra-osseous blood flow. The work also includes the reduction and correction of the motion of the probe with respect to the bone. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct experiments on volunteers to test and validate the method at Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris.

Qualification(s)

Applicants with a PhD in medical ultrasound will be considered. Taste for experimental work, programming skills (Matlab and C) and writing skills (reports, research articles) are required.

Financial conditions

Financial conditions follow Sorbonne Université postdoctoral fellowship guidelines, and depend on the experience of the candidate.
