Proposition de stage M2 2015-2016 : Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) Simulation for Nonlinear Lamb

Context

The objective of the internship is to develop a Matlab FDTD simulation code for analyzing the nonlinear ultrasound wave propagation in the plate-like structure.

In details, the applicant will start from a fundamental training of the linear FDTD computation, and contribute to the development of a new nonlinear FDTD simulation code. He/she will be trained by a Teaching Assistant Dr. Didier Cassereau.

The excellent preliminary work on the FDTD simulation in the LIB (http://www.simsonic.fr/) and the daily contact with Dr. Xu and weekly discussion with Dr. Cassereau, who is the expert in the numerical simulation, will guarantee the implementation of the project.

Depending on the evolution of the project, we can continue in direction of a C/C++ implementation.

All necessary infrastructure and facilities to carry out the research will be provided.

Mission(s)

  • Understand the FDTD simulation scheme in the non linear context, and implement and test the code.
